In June 2005 Kim Taylor was sent by Lion Television to the remote village of Ping'an amongst the great Longji paddy fields in Guangxi province to organise their next shoot for Discovery's 'China Atlas' program.

This involved selecting a scenic spot amongst the rice paddies and organising the building of a platform for the crane, in a day, in the rain, with only the slenderest of tracks along which to transport materials.  It also involved identifying a multi-generational family in the village whose life revolved around rice, and assisting in the interviews of these key characters.  A large-scale traditional hair-washing festival of the local Yao people was also organised for the cameras.
